No Self Control

about

Peter Gabriel's "No Self Control," which originally appeared on his third self-titled solo album or "Melt." By far one of the strangest tunes in his catalog, a gooey and self conscious handshake between the roomy but abrasive sound PiL would crib whole-hoss for "Flowers Of Romance" and what little remained of PG's thirst for proggy excess, a fleeting wave to / hang over from his Genesis days. My version isn't that cool, but it was fun to make.

Maybe consider it an addendum to that "Itchy & Scratchy" or whatever it was called Gabriel covers album that came out this week? Randy Newman slayed "Big Time" and you know what, Lou didn't do too bad with "Solsbury Hill" either. Pete, if you're out there, you're welcome to "Alpha 60" or anything else floating around the webby web with my name on it. Just sayin.

And as always, thanks for listening!
